A 750k run to save lives
Ben is running from Adelaide to Melbourne to raise $50,000 for desperately needed rehab and detox beds so no one has die waiting for help.
Hi, I’m Ben and rehab saved my life
For more than 15 years, alcohol controlled my life. Drinking went from normal… to dangerous… to deadly. I spiralled into blackouts, hospital visits, and ultimately lost everything - my money, my family, my health, my happiness.
When I finally wanted help, I couldn’t get it.
I waited months for a rehab bed. I almost didn’t make it.
Windana eventually took me in, and that bed saved my life. It was the turning point I’d spent years searching for. Without it, I wouldn’t be here today.
Today, I’m 2.5 years sober. I’m a dad again. I'm rebuilding my life… and now I want to help others do the same.
Australia has a bed crisis
Addiction doesn’t discriminate and the demand for help is overwhelming.
1 in 6 Australians struggle with drug addiction
1 in 10 battle alcohol addiction
$70 billion lost every year due to addiction
1 in 5 households are impacted by parental substance use
And yet, thousands of people who want help can’t get it.
They wait months. They get worse. Some don’t survive the wait.
Ben knows this firsthand.
He nearly died waiting for a bed.
This run is about fixing that.
750km for more beds, more help, more hope
In June, to mark his three-year sobriety anniversary, Ben will run from Adelaide to Melbourne - more than 750km to raise $50,000.
Every dollar goes toward creating more rehab and detox beds, giving more people a chance to recover before it’s too late.
Because recovery is possible. Ben is proof.
